PRATO NEVOSO: Arriva una stupenda vittoria al Giro Next Gen, nella 7ª tappa, Bra – Prato Nevoso di 163 km. Pavel Novak giunge in solitaria al termine di una frazione impegnativa e ora sale al 3° posto nella classifica generale, a soli 27” dalla maglia rosa, Luke Tuckwell (Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe). Il 2° posto in classifica è occupato da Jakob Omrzel (Bahrain Victorious) a 11”.

Sul traguardo della stazione sciistica piemontese, Novak precede di 1’24” il norvegese Jørgen Nordhagen (Visma | Lease a Bike) e di 1’29” lo spagnolo Adrià Pericas (UAE Team Emirates GenZ).

Per la formazione di Antonio Bevilacqua, Gabor Deak, delle famiglie Ballan, D’Aprile e Colleoni, si tratta della 10ª affermazione stagionale, la prima personale nel 2025 per il 21enne ceco.

Nato il 03/12/2004 a Jindřichův Hradec, passista-scalatore di 1,81 m, Novak ha praticato sport su ghiaccio ed è un grande appassionato di motori. Lo scorso anno fu 5° al Giro Next Gen, mentre nel 2025 aveva dichiarato di puntare al podio.

Dopo un grande lavoro della squadra, e in particolare del compagno Lorenzo Masciarelli nella fase centrale, Novak ha fatto la differenza in salita, staccando uno a uno tutti i rivali. Nella salita finale ha resistito al ritorno di Pericas, Nordhagen e Omrzel, tagliando il traguardo con un margine rassicurante. Una vittoria netta, costruita con coraggio e gambe.

DICHIARAZIONI

A parlare per primo è il numero uno del team, Antonio Bevilacqua: “Sapevamo che Pavel era in grande condizione e ci ha regalato un numero pazzesco. Un’azione di coraggio e classe. È un ragazzo in cui crediamo molto e che sta crescendo per gradi. Qui al Giro Next Gen abbiamo dimostrato il valore del collettivo, con tanti piazzamenti ogni giorno (Tackas, Chesini, Masciarelli, Nespoli). Per noi e per il nostro progetto è una grande soddisfazione, di fronte ai tanti team development presenti”.

Il protagonista indiscusso è Pavel Novak: “Probabilmente la miglior corsa della mia vita – racconta stanco ma visibilmente emozionato –. Nella prima parte abbiamo lasciato fare, poi al km 75 sono entrato in azione e mi sono riportato sulla fuga. Abbiamo lavorato sodo e poi siamo rimasti in due. Sulle salite pensavo solo ad andare forte, rimanendo da solo. Sapevo di avere un bel vantaggio e stavo bene. Dovevo attaccare perché l’11° posto in classifica non mi stava bene. Ora non so cosa aspettarmi, vediamo che succede domani”.
Tornando sulla tappa Pavel spiega il momento chiave: “Quando sono rientrato sulla fuga ho capito che era fatta. Con quel vantaggio e con un percorso così vallonato era impossibile riprenderci”.

La dedica: “Sicuramente al team che mi sta vicino e che mi supporta sempre. E’ per tutti”.

Il ciclismo è uno sport che guarda avanti. Ecco il pensiero di Novak: “Domani sarà una grande caos con qualcuno che vorrà prendersi una rivincita. Noi ci proviamo ancora”.

TECNICI

Contribuisce all’analisi anche il tecnico Gianluca Valoti: “È un Giro che premia gli attaccanti e per questo avevamo studiato una strategia d’azione concordata con Davide Martinelli e tutta la squadra. Sulla seconda salita avevamo piazzato proprio Martinelli con Manzoni, che hanno dato il via libera a Novak. Nella successiva pianura è stato fantastico Masciarelli ad aiutarlo e il vantaggio si è dilatato. Una vittoria meritata, da condividere con tutti gli sponsor che ci permettono di lavorare investendo nel team”.

Sulla prossima tappa: “Ora siamo molto sereni e vediamo cosa accadrà. Questo è un Giro Next Gen complicato”.
Domani va in scena un’ultima tappa , con il circuito finale di Pinerolo che promette grande spettacolo.

PRATO NEVOSO – A fantastic victory arrives in the 7th stage of the Giro Next Gen, from Bra to Prato Nevoso (163 km). Pavel Novak crosses the finish line solo after a demanding stage and climbs to 3rd place in the general classification, just 27 seconds behind the pink jersey, Luke Tuckwell (Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe). The 2nd place overall is now held by Jakob Omrzel (Bahrain Victorious), 11 seconds behind the leader.

At the finish line of the Piedmontese ski resort, Novak finished 1’24” ahead of Norwegian Jørgen Nordhagen (Visma | Lease a Bike) and 1’29” ahead of Spaniard Adrià Pericas (UAE Team Emirates GenZ).

This marks the 10th win of the season for the team of Antonio Bevilacqua, Gabor Deak, and the Ballan, D’Aprile, and Colleoni families — and Novak’s first personal victory of 2025.

Born on 03/12/2004 in Jindřichův Hradec, the 1.81m Czech rouleur-climber is a former ice sports athlete and a motorsport enthusiast. He finished 5th at the Giro Next Gen last year and had declared he was aiming for the podium in 2025.

After great teamwork — particularly from teammate Lorenzo Masciarelli in the middle part of the race — Novak made the difference on the climbs, dropping his rivals one by one. On the final ascent, he held off the chase by Pericas, Nordhagen, and Omrzel, crossing the line with a solid lead. A clear and courageous win, built with strong legs.

STATEMENTS

First to speak is team principal Antonio Bevilacqua: “We knew Pavel was in great shape and he gave us an extraordinary performance — a move of courage and class. He’s a rider we strongly believe in, and he’s developing step by step. At this Giro Next Gen, we’ve demonstrated our collective strength with multiple daily results (Tackas, Chesini, Masciarelli, Nespoli). This is a great source of pride for us and for our project, especially considering the number of development teams here.”

The undisputed protagonist is Pavel Novak: “Probably the best race of my life,” he said, exhausted but visibly emotional. “In the first part, we let the race unfold, then at kilometer 75 I made my move and bridged to the breakaway. We worked hard and eventually it was down to just two of us. On the climbs, I focused only on going hard, staying alone. I knew I had a good lead and felt strong. I had to attack because I wasn’t satisfied with being 11th in the general classification. Now I don’t know what to expect — we’ll see what happens tomorrow.”

Reflecting on the stage, Pavel explained the key moment: “When I caught up to the breakaway, I knew it was the right move. With that advantage and such a rolling course, it was impossible for them to catch us.”

The dedication: “Definitely to the team that always stands by me and supports me. This win is for all of them.”

Cycling is a sport that looks ahead. Here’s Novak’s outlook: “Tomorrow will be complete chaos, with someone surely out for revenge. We’re going to try again.”

TEAM DIRECTORS

Coach Gianluca Valoti added: “This is a Giro that rewards attackers, and we had a proactive strategy planned with Davide Martinelli and the whole team. On the second climb, we placed Martinelli and Manzoni at the front to set things up for Novak. On the following flat section, Masciarelli was fantastic in helping him and the gap widened. A well-earned victory, one to share with all our sponsors who allow us to keep investing in this team.”

On the upcoming stage: “We’re calm now and will see what tomorrow brings. This is a very demanding Giro Next Gen.” Tomorrow last stage in Pinerolo.
