CHI SONO IN BREVE:

Casa mia è un agriturismo su una collina in mezzo ad un oliveto, tra Lucca e il mare, quindi ho sempre amato il contatto con la natura. Il ciclismo per me è iniziato all’età di 6 anni quando, con mio padre, feci un giro delle mura di Lucca con una biciclettina sulla quale non riuscivo nemmeno a frenare correttamente. Fuori dal ciclismo adoro camminare sulle mie Apuane, sciare e nuotare nella stagione invernale. Per quanto riguarda quella estiva, ovviamente, mi reco al mare. Se ho il tempo quello dell’Elba. Adorando le materie umanistiche frequento il Liceo delle Scienze Umane di Lucca e, naturalmente, il mio sogno è di far diventare il ciclismo il mio lavoro, con il sogno di una vittoria alla Strade Bianche. Però se non ci dovessi riuscire vorrei viaggiare per il mondo zaino in spalla. A primo impatto potrei sembrare un tipo introverso, però una volta presa confidenza sono molto socievole e amichevole. Spesso ho bisogno di ritagliarmi uno spazio per me stesso e passare del tempo a riflettere, magari accompagnato a tempo di buona musica leggera come Battisti o De André.

Le ambizioni 2024: Passo U23 con la voglia di imparare. Si tratta di un passo importante. Ci tengo a far bene a livello personale. Ora non è più come una volta, quando facevi tanti anni nel dilettantismo e sei chiamato a dimostrare presto il tuo valore. Comunque, per me ci sarà anche un nuovo scenario, perchè in una formazione così ben organizzata dovrò anche saper interpretare nuovi ruoli e aiutare i compagni”.

WHO I AM – IN BRIEF

I live in a countryside house on the hills of Lucca. My passion for cycling was passed down to me by my father, Cesare, to whom I owe everything in this sport. I started cycling at the age of 6 with Pedale Lucchese and began winning right away. I was lucky to have a calm and traditional approach to cycling, which allowed me to experience it as a game for most of my youth categories.

Outside of cycling, I consider myself a cheerful and sociable person who loves spending time with others. Growing up surrounded by nature, I enjoy immersing myself in the scents and sounds of the forest, whether through a hike in my beloved Apuan Alps or a swim in the crystal-clear waters of Elba, where I have a small house. I also love listening to classic Italian singer-songwriters like the legendary Fabrizio De André and the timeless Lucio Battisti.

Cycling is gradually becoming a full-time job, demanding my energy 24/7, but I always try to approach it with a lighthearted spirit, even in this sport that is increasingly driven to the extreme in pursuit of every tiny detail. Sometimes, I remind myself of my childhood idol Peter Sagan’s famous words: “Why so serious?”

This year, I hope to be up to the challenges that come my way—even if I don’t yet know exactly what they will be. More often than not, I’m the one putting unnecessary pressure on myself. But we’ll see. What I do know is that I will give my all to turn my childhood dream into a reality to be lived to the fullest.
