SAN MICHELE DI PIAVE (TV) – Dopo tre gare, il team MBH Bank Ballan CSB Colpack ha già occupato tutti i gradini del podio. Dopo il successo di Matteo Ambrosini e il 2° posto di Cesare Chesini, oggi arriva il 3° di Luca Cretti, protagonista di una fuga a tre al 31° Memorial Polese. In una volata a 3, Cretti viene preceduto da Gabriele Bessega(Biesse Carrera) e Tommaso Banbagioni (Trevigiani).

La corsa, riservata a Elite e U23, si è disputata su una distanza di 168 km alla media di 43,2 km/h in 3h:54:26″.

Il bergamasco Cretti torna così protagonista dopo un lungo stop dovuto a un infortunio subito lo scorso anno al Trofeo Matteotti, che lo aveva costretto a interrompere anzitempo la stagione 2024.

CRETTI: “UNA SORPRESA, MA UN GRANDE SEGNALE”

Il podio odierno è arrivato in una gara veloce, un contesto insolito per Cretti, solitamente a suo agio nelle corse più dure.

“Questo conferma che le corse le fanno i corridori – racconta il bergamasco – Bisogna essere sempre pronti. Sto bene e mi sono buttato all’attacco. Ai meno 6 km ho fatto la selezione tra i 14 in fuga. Con me c’era anche il mio compagno Lorenzo Masciarelli, ci siamo parlati: lui avrebbe atteso la volata, io ho deciso di forzare il ritmo. Siamo rimasti in tre e, a 1 km dall’arrivo, ci ho riprovato. Sapevo che sarebbe stato difficile, ma era la mia unica chance.”

Cretti riassume poi le difficoltà affrontate negli ultimi mesi:

“Al rientro alle gare ho subito un infortunio al Trofeo Matteotti, a Pescara, riportando uno strappo profondo al polpaccio che mi ha costretto a chiudere in anticipo la stagione 2024.”

Dopo un inverno di grande lavoro, ora il recupero è completo:

“Il podio di oggi mi dà fiducia e conferma le buone sensazioni dell’ultimo periodo. L’obiettivo è affinare ulteriormente la condizione, perché le mie gare ideali sono quelle con più salita possibile.”

MIOZZO: “SCELTE TATTICHE E UN BUON RISULTATO”

Flavio Miozzo commenta la gara con soddisfazione:

“Per noi è un buon 3° posto. Abbiamo corso bene, con Cretti e Masciarelli incaricati di seguire le fughe. Sono stati bravi a inserirsi nel tentativo giusto. Avevamo anche lo sprinter Samuel Quaranta, che purtroppo è caduto, così come Christian Bagatin.”

L’andamento della corsa è stato chiaro:

“L’attacco decisivo è partito a 70 km dall’arrivo, con 12 uomini davanti, tra cui due nostri corridori. Nel gruppo, avevamo lavorato per eliminare i velocisti e poter giocare più strategie: chiudere la fuga per la volata o lasciar andare l’azione. Quaranta, però, ha sofferto per la caduta e quindi abbiamo lasciato che Cretti si giocasse le sue carte. Ha provato a vincere, facendo il massimo. Comunque, bravo.”

3RD PLACE WITH CRETTI AT MEMORIAL POLESE 

SAN MICHELE DI PIAVE (TV) – After three races, the MBH Bank Ballan CSB Colpack team has already occupied all steps of the podium. Following Matteo Ambrosini‘s victory and Cesare Chesini‘s 2nd place, today Luca Cretti secured 3rd place, being part of a three-man breakaway at the 31st Memorial Polese. In a three-man sprint, Cretti was preceded by Gabriele Bessega (Biesse Carrera) and Tommaso Bambagioni (Trevigiani).

The race, reserved for Elite and U23 riders, covered 168 km at an average speed of 43.2 km/h, finishing in 3h:54:26.

The Bergamasco rider Cretti returns to the spotlight after a long break due to an injury suffered last year at the Trofeo Matteotti, which forced him to end his 2024 season prematurely.

CRETTI: “A SURPRISE, BUT A GREAT SIGN”

Today’s podium came in a fast-paced race, an unusual setting for Cretti, who typically excels in tougher courses.

“This confirms that races are shaped by the riders,” said the Bergamasco. “You always have to be ready. I felt good and went on the attack. With 6 km to go, I forced a selection from the 14-man breakaway. My teammate Lorenzo Masciarelliwas also there, and we discussed our strategy: he would wait for the sprint, while I decided to push the pace. We were left with three riders, and with 1 km to go, I attacked again. I knew it would be tough, but it was my only chance.”

Cretti also reflected on the challenges he faced in the past months:

“Upon returning to racing, I suffered an injury at the Trofeo Matteotti in Pescara, where I sustained a deep calf tear that forced me to end my 2024 season early.”

After a winter of intense training, he is now fully recovered:

“Today’s podium gives me confidence and confirms my good sensations. The goal is to keep improving my form because my ideal races are those with more climbing.”

MIOZZO: “TACTICAL CHOICES AND A GOOD RESULT”

Flavio Miozzo analyzed the race with satisfaction:

“For us, a 3rd place is a good result. We raced well, with Cretti and Masciarelli assigned to follow breakaways. They did a great job positioning themselves in the right move. We also had sprinter Samuel Quaranta, but unfortunately, he crashed, as did Christian Bagatin.”

The race dynamics were clear:

“The decisive attack came 70 km from the finish, with 12 riders up front, including two of ours. In the peloton, we worked to eliminate the sprinters and open up more strategies: either closing the breakaway for a sprint or letting the move go. Quaranta, however, struggled after his crash, so we allowed Cretti to play his cards. He tried to win, giving his best. A strong performance nonetheless.”
