MONTALTO (AR): La vittoria sfugge al Memorial Daniele Tortoli, in Toscana, che premia Tommaso Dati (Biesse Carrera Premac) e che vede i ragazzi del team MBH Bank Ballan CSB Colpack, Christian Bagatin ed Edoardo Cipollini, sul podio al 2° e 3° posto.
Una beffa nel finale di una prova di 172 km con Elite e U23 che ha visto i ragazzi del team manager Antonio Bevilacqua, Gabor Deak, delle famiglie Ballan, D’Aprile e Colleoni sempre protagonisti e all’attacco. Si è gareggiato per 3h:53’:28” alla media di 44,203 km/h.
La gara si è decisa dopo 60 km con una fuga che ha visto subito Bagatin, generoso attaccante, con altri 5 atleti. Nel finale il varesino era rimasto solo con due atleti Biesse (Dati e Bessega), poi solo con Dati. Da dietro è rientrato Edoardo Cipollini e proprio all’ultimo chilometro pure Bessega, che con uno scatto da lontano ha sorpreso tutti favorendo il compagno di team.
Per Bagatin e Cipollini è un podio che deve essere visto in prospettiva.

IL GRUPPO: La giornata vede inoltre il 5° posto di Manuel Oioli, che dietro ha regolato il gruppo, e il 7° di Pavel Novak.  Da segnalare la grande prova di Takacs Zsombor, che ha fatto un grande lavoro di squadra e ha dimostrato di essere un talento.

DICHIARAZIONI:
Le parole di Bagatin, visibilmente amareggiato: “Chi vince ha sempre ragione e facciamo i complimenti a Dati, personalmente venivo dal Tour de Bretagne e non sapevo come avrei reagito oggi, ma sono andato forte. Il 2° è il primo dei battuti e quello che mi rincuora è il livello della performance che è stato molto buono. Ora mi aspetta il Matteotti in Toscana e poi spero di essere al Tour of Hungary”.

Cipollini: “Una gara che rappresenta un grande insegnamento. Arrivavo da dietro e mi sentivo bene, speravo di fare meglio, essendo uno veloce. Avremo modo di analizzare la prova di oggi, guardiamo al bicchiere mezzo pieno. Sono rientrato sulla salita della Laterina, dimostrando di avere una grande gamba dopo un avvio di stagione difficile dal punto di vista della salute”.

L’analisi finale spetta ai tecnici Gianluca Valoti e Beppe Dileo: “La voglia di vincere ha portato i ragazzi a commettere dei piccoli, ma significativi errori. Da un punto di vista tattico si poteva risparmiare qualche energia in più, oppure gestire in modo differente alcuni istanti. Resta una grande prestazione che purtroppo non ha portato al successo. Il prossimo week end vogliamo rifarci al Trofeo Matteotti di Marcialla e al GP Internazionale del Marmo di Carrara”.

MONTALTO (AR): Victory slipped away at the Memorial Daniele Tortoli in Tuscany, which crowned Tommaso Dati(Biesse Carrera Premac) as winner, while riders from MBH Bank Ballan CSB Colpack, Christian Bagatin and Edoardo Cipollini, finished on the podium in 2nd and 3rd place.

It was a bitter finale to the 172 km race for Elite and U23 riders, in which the team led by Antonio Bevilacqua, Gabor Deak, and backed by the Ballan, D’Aprile, and Colleoni families, was constantly in the spotlight and on the attack. The race was completed in 3h:53’:28”, at an average speed of 44.203 km/h.

The decisive moment came after 60 km, when a breakaway formed featuring Bagatin, a determined attacker, and five other riders. In the final, the rider from Varese was left alone with two Biesse athletes (Dati and Bessega), and eventually just with Dati. From behind, Edoardo Cipollini managed to bridge up, and in the final kilometer Bessega also returned, launching a long-range attack that surprised everyone and paved the way for his teammate’s victory.

For Bagatin and Cipollini, it’s a podium that should be viewed with long-term perspective.

THE TEAM: The day also brought a 5th place for Manuel Oioli, who won the sprint from the chasing group, and a 7th place for Pavel Novak. Also noteworthy was the impressive performance by Zsombor Takacs, who did outstanding team work and confirmed his talent.

STATEMENTS:

Bagatin, visibly disappointed, said:
“The winner is always right, and we congratulate Dati. Personally, I was coming off the Tour de Bretagne and wasn’t sure how I’d feel today, but I rode strong. Second is the first of the losers, but what comforts me is the level of performance, which was very high. Now I’ll race the Matteotti in Tuscany, and I hope to be at the Tour of Hungary.”

Cipollini said:
“This race was a great learning experience. I came back from behind and was feeling good — I hoped for a better result as I’m a fast finisher. We’ll analyze today’s race and focus on the positives. I rejoined the front on the Laterina climb, showing good form after a tough start to the season due to health issues.”

Final analysis came from team directors Gianluca Valoti and Beppe Dileo:
“The hunger to win led the boys to make some small but significant mistakes. Tactically, we could have conserved more energy or handled some moments differently. Still, it was a strong performance, although it didn’t result in victory. Next weekend, we aim to bounce back at the Trofeo Matteotti in Marcialla and the GP Internazionale del Marmo in Carrara.”
